The VET Toolbox E4D program by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) at Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) is an initiative that began in March 2022 and is set to continue until May 2023. An E-Waste Curriculum was in-turn developed through rigorous participation of all key players in the e-waste industry. The program's primary objective is to improve the provision of demand-driven training in E-Waste processing and management, with a focus on training 400 young people for 100 decent jobs. Additionally, the program provided basic training equipment to five VET centers. Key partners involved in this program include Computer School for Kenya (CFSK), Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Centre (WEEE), Pan African E-Waste Solutions Ltd (which is the E-Waste Consultancy partner for MUST) and selected VET centers.
An e-waste collection centre was as a result launched within the same program; ensuring disassembly of the collected electronic gadgets and their safe disposal; thus promoting environmental sustainability and circular economy.
PAES LTD, through the Lead Researcher was also actively engaged in the latest E-Waste National Baseline Survey in Kenya carried out by CSI International and commissioned by the German Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Centre.
Pan African E-Waste Solutions Ltd (PAES LTD) through their partnership with Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) is also involved in Training, Research and Development in E-Waste Management, Climate Change Resilience and Circular Economy. They have done so by developing training courses on E-Waste Management that targets key players in the industry such as Environmental Organizations and Agencies, County Governments, Institutions etc.
